The Orient in Acrylics
One subject I like painting is anything oriental. I lived in Egypt when I was small and have always remained fascinated by the orient, and have visited again as i was older.
The first acrylic painting is from a photo I took while visiting a temple in Luxor. I was impressed with their architecture and wanted to get it on canvas. The second one is actually a picture of my fiance posing as an Arab, which was fun to improvise also on the background.
Watercolor Travel
As I love travelling and have grown up just about everywhere, I love capturing a place on canvas as memories and even altering that picture to where sometimes I imagined it in a different way than it actually appeared. watercolors are one easy way to do this as I just bring along a set and and some paper and you can paint just about anywhere. These are from a trip we made by car years ago passing through places like Amalfi, Italy to Meteora and Kavala, Greece, to Turkey..
Acrylics & Color Blending
Speaking of color blends and acrylics, another one of my favorite colors is red, and all the shades in between. I try to portray the contrast between light and dark here by keeping the picture simple so it accentuates the colors more. The flower set was made especially for a room which has furniture in shades of red and brown, and the light source that comes from the left accentuates the light coming from the window in that corner.
